Maybe…
Maybe if sleep weren’t so boring I could get more of it.
Maybe if my mind didn’t wander I could learn to control it.
Maybe if I looked at reality I could strive to accept it.
Maybe if your heart wasn’t closed I could run and explore it.
Maybe if the world wasn’t cruel I could love and embrace it.
Maybe if you gave me the time I could nourish and grow it.
Maybe if I had the will I could fight and defeat it.
Maybe if I cared enough I could live and breathe it.
Maybe if I never let go I could hug and kiss it.
Maybe if you didn’t give up I could somehow improve it.
Maybe if it weren’t so dark I could start to see it.
Maybe if time runs out I could rush to restore it.
Maybe if it were really that easy I could have already done it.
Maybe if it were black and white I could clearly define it.
Maybe if I rethought my actions I could go back and change it.
Maybe if my brain could calm down I would finally rest it.
Maybe if I stop saying maybe I could actually do it.
The City
Sitting here tonight on the 5th floor of my school library. Lucky for me the windows are floor to ceiling and I have an amazing view. Looking out at the city to all that’s going on puts everything in perspective. Makes you feel kind of unimportant, but I think that’s a good thing every once in a while. Its a beautiful night and in the distance each office with its light still on tells a story. I find is strange that with billions of people on this planet we’re not more connected to those around us. I don’t even know the person sitting 5 inches from me in the library. We’re all so consumed with our own lives, our own drama, lets open our eyes. The world is blooming all around us. Acknowledge it. Accept it. Appreciate it.
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference. —Robert Frost
